“Voice of Opportunity” is the motto. The League for the Blind and Disabled lives up to it.
The Fort Wayne-based League for the Blind and Disabled helps people-many people in many ways. The League serves people in need in 11 Northeast Indiana counties, hundreds and more people at any one time, and plans to serve and help many more.
Dave Nelson is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is serving this role in his twenty-first year. “Our goal is to help people stay in their home and community and expand services in Northeast Indiana and into southern Michigan in the future,” Nelson said.

El título de este artículo precisa de una respuesta sin titubeos: Este 8 de mayo en las primarias y en noviembre en las elecciones generales están en juego el “DREAM ACT,” la “reforma migratoria integral,” la composición de la Suprema Corte de Justicia, el destino de la Ley SB 1070 de Arizona y de las leyes similares en Indiana, Georgia, Carolina del Sur, Alabama y Utah. Los inmigrantes deberían apoyar aquellos candidatos que los han apoyado a ellos o que tienen el compromiso de apoyarlos en el futuro inmediato, al margen de preferencias partidarias; sobre todo en esa lista de asuntos que contiene la oración anterior. ¿Quiénes son esos candidatos que pueden exhibir un listado de apoyo a la comunidad inmigrante en los Estados Unidos?

“ El pueblo...unido...jamás...será vencido.” Hermosa frase que hizo famosa Cesar Chávez, el que fue y sigue siendo el líder mas auténtico de los derechos civiles y laborales de los Hispanos en los Estados Unidos. Fue nuestro Martin Luther King Jr. Nuestro Mohandas Gandhi.

The time is now to pass the DREAM Act. It’s overtime and overdue.
Each year, more than 65,000 immigrant high schoolers graduate with an uncertain future through no fault of their own. They were brought here by their families in search of the American dream. Yet, they struggle in America due to their immigration status. They struggle to attend college or work or join the military. They cannot vote or obtain a driver’s license.
Yet, they seek work or school and live to pursue the American dream while facing many hurdles and obstacles that immigrants have faced for years. For centuries in America, immigrants had paths to citizenship. Today, most all immigrant children and youth brought to the USA do not.
